SUNBURY (PA) – How can an Evangelism Grant help your church reach the community? Sunbury City Church requested a grant earlier this year. Pastor Derek Van Ruler shares his reflections:

“Because of the generous gift from the BRN we were able to purchase 2 picnic tables and a fire pit in order to throw over 10 block parties in 2 different areas of our community this summer.

During this time, we simply invited men and women from the neighborhoods to a barbecue on either a Friday or Saturday night and saw over 75 people attend these barbecues throughout the summer.

On top of that many of our neighbors and friends were able to get to know people from Sunbury City Church, which led into a number of gospel conversations with a few couples desiring to come to church. As a result, a new Missional community of 25 birthed and over 25 others were invited into an existing Missional community, with one woman coming to faith in Christ.

Our hope as we look to the fall is to have each Missional community spend at least 10 weeks going through the gospel truths from the entire storyline of the Bible, allowing people to ask questions, and challenging not-yet-Christians to faith in Jesus Christ.

God has been good to us because of your gift.  Thank you!”
We love to hear your stories of making a difference in your community.

If you are interested in reaching your community but you need a little financial help to carry it out please contact Larry Anderson, , or Fanny Grote, for more information.
