TRENTON, NJ – The following is a summary of a recently outreach event by Fellowship Capital City. The BRN was able to provide some seed money for this event, and we continue to pray for the success of the Gospel in Trenton.
Church Plant Evangelistic Strategy: Our evangelistic strategy for the Nativity in the Neighborhood outreach was to capitalize on the Christmas season by putting on a three-scene Nativity drama actors from Trenton High School, live animals (pony, donkey, sheep and a camel), and live music. At the conclusion of the “manger scene” was a really clear Gospel presentation and follow up conversations with guests around bon fires and hot chocolate. This is the third year we did this outreach. The weather (rain/snow the first night) really limited the turn out (40 people) but the second night God blessed us with 170 guests—including Trenton firemen and policemen.
Event Follow-Up: We are praying that many will attend our Christmas Eve service, several people are now following our church Facebook page, several downloaded our church App, and we are following up with the students through their Drama Teacher (a member of our church plant).
Number of People Reached: 210 people heard the Gospel, received a special Christmas addition Daily Bread devotional and were invited to attend our Christmas Eve service.
Ongoing Follow-Up: Many of our guests are in our immediate neighborhood and we will have opportunities to connect with them and other neighborhood events including the Easter Egg Hunt, National Night Out, and Fall Harvest Party that we host at our house.
*Highlight—one of the student actors playing Mary was a Muslim. A member of our church had a really great conversation with her about Christianity, Christ, the Gospel and the Bible. It was incredible to see how the Lord was moving in that conversation.
