Kenton Hunt Training DR Volunteers

HARRISBURG – It’s an exciting time to serve with PA/SJ Southern Baptist Disaster Relief! The Baptist Association of Southwestern PA has provided funds to build a new shower/laundry trailer. BASWP will be the owners and administrators of this unit and have asked State Disaster Relief Director Kenton Hunt to coordinate the project. He anticipates this unit being available for mission teams to do community outreaches and evangelism as well as Disaster Relief responses.

The unit is currently under construction by JD Welding in Mifflinburg, PA, the same contractor who built the NEPBA shower unit and the BASWP mobile kitchen. This innovatively designed mobile unit will be capable of providing 125 showers per day in four private shower stalls, each with their own exterior access door. The climate controlled trailer will also contain two washers and two dryers that can handle 50 loads of laundry daily.  Hunt says that the trailer’s design is based on the Northeast Association’s Unit but has improvements that allows no wasted space. Fully loaded, this trailer will weigh 5,000 pounds.

According to Hunt, completion of the project is anticipated in May and will be used in the Disaster Relief trainings being offered in late spring. Photo progress picture updates will be posted to the Disaster Relief Facebook page  here.
