PHILADELPHIA – On Saturday, March 4th over 300 people gathered at Calvary Christian Church in Northeast Philadelphia for a time of rich fellowship, learning, spiritual enrichment and development at the BRN Advantage Leadership Development Event. Upon entering the venue, the check-in line was bustling with believers and leaders from all over our region! Various churches were represented and it made for rich dialogue during meal time and breakouts as well as rich fellowship as members and presenters engaged in discussions regarding their various ministry contexts.
The opening address introduced the conference topics and speakers. Attendees dispersed to various breakout rooms for a wide range of topics including: Prayer, Revitalization, Identifying Idols in our lives, and Making an impact in our communities. Each conference presenter was well-informed and well-prepared and presented the material in a way that truly reached all participants.
Attendees were intrigued and actively engaged in each breakout session. Interviews from participants echoed that sentiment. Attendees reported that they enjoyed the workshops and they were surprised at how much they learned. There were a number of first time attendees who expressed tremendous joy at the opportunity to attend the conference and vowed to return to the next one. So many attendees were impressed by the wealth of knowledge presented throughout the day and the consensus was that they are certain they will be able to implement all that they learned during the course of the day in the ministries in which they serve.
The crowd assembled around mid-day for an address by BRN Executive Director/Treasurer Barry Whitworth. He shared words of encouragement and inspiration. During the assembly some of our attendees received door prizes and give-aways which certainly added a nice element to the gathering.
Conference hosts and presenters were very delighted with the turnout and deemed the event to be a tremendous success overall. They were indeed satisfied with the turnout-as the event was well attended-yet their vision is for the next event to show growth and to see the numbers swell even more as individuals take back what they’ve learned to their communities and encourage other leaders, pastors, laity, lay-leaders to take advantage of such opportunities for leadership development in the future.
